1st Annual Liquid Poetry Slam Hosted by The Liquid Poets May 18, 2008 |
Northern Colorado’s Liquid Poets homebrew
club invites you to enter Colorado’s newest AHA/BJCP sanctioned homebrew competition.
Homebrew entries will be evaluated by experienced judges based on the
2008 BJCP Guidelines. Medals or ribbons will
be awarded to
1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each Category, as well as for Best of Show Beer and Best of Show Mead. All BJCP 2008 categories
are accepted.
Liquid Poetry Slam Rules
Categories
Each beer will be judged according to the
2008 BJCP guidelines.
Beers of similar styles may be grouped together to allow for manageable
judging sessions and reasonable competition. The
top beer in each Category will be judged in a final round to determine the Best
of Show Beer.
Bottles
An entry shall consist of two (2) bottles, 10 - 22 ounce, preferably green or brown
glass. Bottles must be clean of all
paper, printed or enameled labels, label adhesive, misc. debris, or any other distinguishing
features. Clear glass, wire swing-top
and oversized (22 oz. or champagne) bottles are acceptable, though discouraged.
Printed crown caps are acceptable but
must be blacked out completely with black marker to assure anonymity.
Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
Paperwork
Each entry must have a single entry
form completed containing brewer and recipe information. Each bottle shall have a
bottle identification
form attached with a rubber band to facilitate
collection of forms; glue and/or tape are unacceptable.
Brewing software recipe sheets, such as Promash, are also accepted.
Enter your beer according to the 2008 BJCP classifications
– please see the BJCP website
for a copy of these classifications. Please
fill out the entry forms completely. Be
meticulous about noting any special ingredients that must be specified per the BJCP
Style Guidelines. Failure to note such ingredients may impact the judges' scoring
of your entry.
Limitations
This competition is open to amateur home-brewers age 21 or older.
Brewers are limited to one entry per BJCP subcategory.
Additionally, in Category 23A (Historic, Experimental, or other
uncategorized beer) types can be used as subtypes of the main category and more than
one different beer entered, one in each subtype.
Entry Fees
An entry fee of $6 per entry will be collected on all entries. Attach entry fee
to the Entry and Recipe form. Please
make checks payable to Liquid Poets.
More Rules
Entrants agree to allow the Liquid Poets the right to publish recipes without compensation.
All entries become property of the
Liquid Poets. Infractions of these
rules may disqualify any entry. Disqualified
beers may still be judged but will not be eligible for awards.
The judges may decide to not award any or all places in any Category.
The decision of the judges is final.
